Are you passionate about computer games and love creating your own?
Our Level 2 Games Design course will teach you everything you need to know about the thriving UK games industry, which is the third largest in the world.
You’ll learn how to design and create game assets such as environments, audio, characters and objects, as well as how to use technology to bring your ideas to life.
We’re looking for students who are interested in developing their creative skills and understanding of the games industry and its audiences.

Our practical, work-related course is based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands, giving you a taste of your chosen career and providing a solid foundation for further study.
You’ll learn a range of creative media methods and skills, including interactive content creation, sound production, and digital design techniques.
The course will be assessed through projects designed to help build your skills this then leads to a Final Major Project, which will help you develop your skills and abilities as you progress, getting you ready for your next steps.

3 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above or a UAL or equivalent L1 Diploma in a related area at Merit or above. Preferably English will be a grade 3/D.
*Please note that if your English and Maths are below a grade 4 then you will have to also attend English and maths sessions alongside the games course.
Our dedicated games department has seen over £80,000 of investment over the last few years to ensure our students are working with industry level kit.
You’ll use liquid cooled gaming rigs and Wacom Cintqs in our cutting edge graphic suite and industry standard software such as 3DS Max, Unreal Engine 5 and the Adobe Creative Suite.
As well as three cutting edge engine rooms, we also host our own VR lab where you can design and explore cyberspace, along with use of the immersive lab at PROTO across the road.
We work hard to make fantastic partnerships with employers to give you experience of the world of work. This might include project based industry commissions, guest speakers or external event visits.
Career development is central to our courses and we continually work to reflect real world experience in the course.
Currently we work with leading technology companies such as PROTO, Sumo Digital and Atom Hawk, which can lead to work experience opportunities.
We also participate in, and are reigning champions, in a number of externally set Game Jams – they’re our favourite thing!
In addition, we promote a ‘beyond entertainment” approach where your newly developed skills may be transferred into other fields such as games for education or technology roles.
Once you finish this course, you can progress onto our Level 3 course in Games Production (which is equivalent to three A Levels) and on completion of this you could then go onto university, one of our own Hight Education courses, an apprenticeship or into work.

This course is free to those aged under 19 years old.
Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free or reduced price course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.
If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 years over, you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the fee upfront in full and qualify for a 10% discount.
