The Foundation is a financial support fund unique to Gateshead College.

We’re lucky to have this extra pot of funding which means we can offer you grants on top of the other financial bursaries available, to help you get the most out of your studies.

 

WHAT CAN I APPLY FOR?

You can apply for money to help with:

  • Travel costs.
  • Equipment to help you on your course – this could be anything from tools to chefs’ knives, and laptops to art materials.
  • Cash to help you get to auditions, interviews or university visits.
  • Entry and travel to competitions.
  • Placement opportunities.
  • Experiences that help you develop your skills or inspire you in your future career.

Really anything that will help you achieve the most you can on your course or with your personal goals.

The things we’ve supported include:

Sometimes your teachers will apply for grants from the Foundation to support group activities. These can include:

  • Driving lessons for students on courses where these skills are essential to work in the sector they’ve chosen.
  • Mentoring Programmes
  • Students on the hairdressing programme were supported to attend the Salon International ExCel Conference in London. 
  • Games Development students attended the Games conference/Exposure event in London as part of their programme supported by the Gateshead College Foundation

Students Grace and Eve Waterstone were supported with costs for participating, travel and accommodation to compete in the National Netball team for the AOC.

Performing arts student Jenny Callighan applied for funding from the Gateshead College Foundation to help cover the costs of travel and accommodation to attend interviews and auditions at theatre schools across the country.  After finding the perfect fit for her, she is now studying musical theatre at Bird College in London.
