Gateshead College staff and students have celebrated their outstanding achievements at an annual awards ceremony.
The college held its annual Edge Awards at their Baltic Campus, which are designed to recognise the dedication and hard work of both staff and students.
In total 15 awards were presented to the students from all curriculum areas of the college. They recognised a range of achievements including academic excellence, dedication to studies, overcoming adversity and outstanding sporting ability.
Nominations were received from staff and students for the Staff Awards with 10 accolades presented on the evening to both teaching and support staff.
The event was hosted by Nathan Lough, a former performing arts student of the college and included entertainment from HND music student Elizabeth Liddle. Guests dined on a three course meal, which was prepared and served by the college’s hospitality and catering students.
Judith Doyle CBE, Principal and Chief Executive at the college said: “The Edge awards recognise and celebrate all of the hard work, success and efforts of our students and staff.
“It was a fantastic evening and I am so proud of the drive, dedication and determination they’ve shown. I’m very proud to work with such an inspirational and brilliant team and I know our students will all go onto great things, it is wonderful to have played a part in helping them on their way.”
