If you’re interested in working in construction but are not sure which trade to choose, this course is the perfect option. You’ll develop the practical skills valued by employers and get a taste of a variety of trades.

We’ll also help you to apply for a Construction Skills Certification (CSCS) Card, which is a requirement for all workers and trainees no matter your job role before you go on site.
There are no formal entry requirements. You’ll have an informal interview with a member of the teaching team.
A highly motivated team of industry specialist with a wealth of knowledge across a wide range of vocational trades will form your teaching team.

Our industry partners include Tolent, Sir Robert McAlpine, Ryder and Bellway, ensuring that our course content is always up to date and relevant to today’s construction industry and that our work placement opportunities are with some of the best employers in our region.
Throughout the course, we’ll monitor your progress and provide constructive feedback to help you to improve where needed. We’ll measure your skills and knowledge against nationally recognised standards specific to the construction area. We assess you in a range of ways including practical tasks and testing.
You’ll train at our purpose built Skills Academy for Construction which is kitted out with dedicated workshop areas for each trade.
Students will be required to purchase PPE.
This qualification will help you to build the introductory skills, knowledge and behaviours you need to start your career in construction.
After the course, you can progress to our Level 2 courses or onto a Level 2 apprenticeship, if a vacancy is available.
This course is free to those aged under 19 years old.
Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free or reduced price course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.
If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 years over, you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the fee upfront in full and qualify for a 10% discount.
