Our Level 2 Games Foundation course will teach you everything you need to know about the thriving UK games industry, which is the third largest in the world.

You will learn how to design and create game assets such as:

  • objects

You will also explore the world of eSports where you’ll explore the exciting world of competitive gaming and learn essential skills for content creation, including streaming and audio production.

We’re looking for students who are interested in developing their creative skills and understanding of the games industry and its audiences.

You will learn how to plan and research for your projects, and how to use creative software such as:

Our practical, work-related course is based on realistic workplace situations, activities, and demands, giving you a taste of your chosen career and providing a solid foundation for further study in Level 3 courses such as: Games (Animation/VFX), Games (Development) or eSports .

The course will be assessed through projects designed to help build your skills.

This then leads to a Final Major Project, which will help you develop your skills and abilities as you progress, getting you ready for your next steps.

So if you’re looking to level up your games design and production skills, explore Esports, and be a part of the exciting world of game creation and streaming, then this is the course for you!

Required Entry Qualifications

3 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above or a UAL or equivalent L1 Diploma in a related area at Merit or above. Preferably English will be a grade 3/D.

*Please note that if your English and Maths are below a grade 4 then you will have to also attend English and maths sessions alongside the games course.

Our dedicated games department has seen over £80,000 of investment over the last few years to ensure our students are working with industry level kit.

You’ll use liquid cooled gaming rigs and Wacom Cintqs in our cutting edge graphic suite and industry standard software such as:

  • 3DS Max
  • Unreal Engine 5
  • Adobe Creative Suite

As well as three cutting edge engine rooms, we also host our own Esports lab where you can explore esports, along with  the immersive lab at PROTO across the road.

We work hard to make fantastic partnerships with employers to give you experience of the world of work.

This might include project based industry commissions, guest speakers or external event visits.

Career development is central to our courses and we continually work to reflect real world experience in the course.

Currently we work with leading technology companies such as PROTO, Sumo Digital and Atom Hawk, which can lead to work experience opportunities.

We also participate in, and are reigning champions, in a number of externally set Game Jams – they’re our favourite thing!

In addition, we promote a ‘beyond entertainment” approach where your newly developed skills may be transferred into other fields such as games for education or technology roles.

Once you finish this course, you can progress onto our Level 3 courses in Games Production or Esports (which are the equivalent to three A Levels) and on completion of this you could then go onto university, one of our own Hight Education courses, an apprenticeship or into work.
