This course is for people who want to work as plumbers.

You will develop the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the plumbing sector.

On this course, you will cover:

  • Health & safety training
  • Scientific principles of plumbing
  • Electrical principles and processes
  • Hot & cold water systems
  • Central heating systems
  • Sanitation and drainage
  • Communication within the building services engineering sector
  • Basic installation techniques of plumbing appliances

Days & Times
Mondays & Wednesdays, 6pm to 9pm

Required Entry Qualifications

Good levels of maths and English are recommended as an entry criteria such as English GCSE at Grade C/4 or above and maths GCSE at Grade C/4 or above.

Study methods

There is a 50/50 split between practical workshop sessions and classroom work, where you will be taught the underpinning knowledge to enable you to pass the online exams.

How the course is assessed

Assessment will be through a range of practical assignments and theory based on-line examinations. The course will be taught through a range of varied activities including classroom based theory sessions and skills workshops to develop the necessary installation experience.

 

You will be taught by highly experienced members of our Plumbing team. they will deliver the sessions to you using a variety of teaching techniques to ensure everyone is able to make best possible progress.

The course is awarded through City & Guilds and staff will follow the assessment criteria to ensure learning meets all awarding standards

Achieving this Level 2 plumbing course you will be recognised as an improver/plumbers mate, which can lead to better employment opportunities and you can progress to an NVQ in the workplace.

You will need to provide suitable clothing for workshops and steel toe capped boots. There will be reading lists provided to support you with your studies.

Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.

If you don’t qualify for funding help and have to pay for course, you could pay a 25% deposit and four consecutive monthly standing order payments for the balance. The course fee must be over £100 to qualify.

Or you can apply for an Adult Advanced Learner Loan, a low interest loan with no upfront fees that you pay back in installments once you’re earning.
