The Software Development Level 4 Bootcamp is the perfect launchpad for aspiring developers looking to gain industry-relevant skills. Whether you’re looking to become a developer, software engineer, or enter another tech role, this course equips you with the essential skills to succeed.

Over the course of this bootcamp you will develop the following skills:

  • Java Programming: Develop practical coding skills in Java, a versatile and widely used programming language.
  • Software Development Methodologies: Explore Agile, DevOps, and other development frameworks used in the industry.
  • Problem-Solving and Logical Thinking: Exercises and challenges designed to enhance your critical thinking and programming logic.

Assessment
You will engage in a hands-on project that simulates real-world software development challenges, providing you with a portfolio to showcase your skills to potential employers. In addition, you will have the opportunity to study for and take the optional Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification to evidence your readiness for industry.

As our bootcamps are delivered via a blended approach we ensure that learners have access to industry standard software. In addition, for in person sessions, our teaching rooms provide a realistic, practical learning environment.

This course is free (fully funded) for independent learners (those not taking the course through their employer).

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be aged 19 or older
  • Live in the North East Combined Authority area (Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland or County Durham)
  • Have the right to work in the UK and meets residency requirements

Employers using bootcamps to upskill their workforce will be required to pay a contribution (10% for SME and 30% for large employers).

If you are an independent learner, you will be guaranteed a job interview in industry. This bootcamp will prepare you for a career as a Junior Developer, Software Developer or Software Engineer, as well as other more general digital roles.
All applicants are invited to interview and take part in an initial assessment process to check your suitability for this bootcamp. In addition, all applicants are required to have the following: GCSE English and Maths at grade 9-4 (A*-C), or equivalent. We recommend that learners have at least a Level 3 qualification in an IT/Tech related subject, however, we welcome applications from people without this qualification and will consider your interview and initial assessment performance.
