This bootcamp is perfect for individuals eager to specialise in software testing and quality assurance. The programme covers a wide range of testing methodologies, including automated, performance and security testing, ensuring you’re well-versed in industry-standard practices.

What distinguishes this bootcamp is its focus on real-world applications, allowing you to lead quality assurance initiatives with confidence. You’ll gain hands-on experience through practical scenarios that prepare you for roles in software testing. In addition to technical expertise, the course emphasises essential soft skills like communication, analytical thinking, and report writing, crucial for effectively conveying testing results and collaborating with development teams. With our hands-on projects and industry-aligned curriculum, you’ll be well-prepared to meet the demands of the evolving tech sector.

Over the course of this bootcamp you will develop the following skills:

  • Test Planning and Execution: Learn the fundamentals of planning, executing, and documenting software tests.
  • Automated Testing Techniques: Develop expertise in automated testing tools and frameworks to streamline QA processes.
  • Performance and Security Testing: Gain knowledge in performance benchmarking and security testing to identify system vulnerabilities.
  • Soft Skills Development: Emphasis on communication, report writing, and analytical skills for effective QA roles.
  • Practical Scenarios: Engage in real-world testing projects that simulate senior-level software testing responsibilities.

Assessment
You will engage in a hands-on project that simulates real-world software testing challenges, providing you with a portfolio to showcase your skills to potential employers. In addition, you will have the opportunity to study for and take the optional Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification to evidence your readiness for industry.

Duration: 8 weeks.

As our bootcamps are delivered via a blended approach we ensure that learners have access to industry standard software. In addition, for in person sessions, our teaching rooms provide a realistic, practical learning environment.

This course is free (fully funded) for independent learners (those not taking the course through their employer).

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be aged 19 or older
  • Live in the North East Combined Authority area (Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland or County Durham)
  • Have the right to work in the UK and meets residency requirements

Employers using bootcamps to upskill their workforce will be required to pay a contribution (10% for SME and 30% for large employers).

If you are an independent learner, you will be guaranteed a job interview in industry. This bootcamp will prepare you for a career as a QA Tester, Software Tester or Junior Developer, as well as other more general software related roles.
All applicants are invited to interview and take part in an initial assessment process to check your suitability for this bootcamp. In addition, all applicants are required to have the following: GCSE English and Maths at grade 9-4 (A*-C), or equivalent. We recommend that learners have at least a Level 3 qualification in an IT/Tech related subject, however, we welcome applications from people without this qualification and will consider your interview and initial assessment performance.
