If you’re thinking about starting a career in engineering, or want to develop your current career, then this HTQ Manufacturing Engineering course is ideal for you.


Our Higher Technical Qualifications or HTQs are co-designed with employers to address an increasing need for high quality professional and technical education pathways. So, you not only get the knowledge you need to apply, or progress, but also the skills employers want in only 12 months.

The course aims to:

  • Integrate fundamental engineering principles with specialized units in manufacturing engineering.
  • Develop your understanding of the core concepts of manufacturing processes, automation, and quality control.
  • Provide hands-on experience and industry insights from leading employers.
  • Ensure you graduate with both the theoretical knowledge and practical expertise required to meet the evolving needs of employers.

We collaborate closely with industry partners to develop modules that directly address the requirements of the manufacturing engineering sector, offering you a clear pathway to employment, apprenticeships, or further study.

  • Engineering Maths
  • Managing a Professional Engineering Project
  • Production Engineering for Manufacture
  • Quality and Process Improvement
  • Computer Aided Design and Manufacture (CAD/CAM)
  • Industry 4.0
  • Industrial Robots

Required Entry Qualifications

An appropriate level 3 qualification or A levels.

Mature students may be offered a place without these qualifications, depending on a satisfactory interview.

Assignments, Portfolios and Project reports.

You’ll be based in our world class Skills Academy for Automotive, Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics campus at Team Valley where you’ll benefit from our outstanding workshops which have a range of industry standard mechanical maintenance equipment including:

  • lathes
  • millers
  • grinders
  • fabrication and welding workshops
  • electronics laboratory
  • pneumatics
  • PLCs
  • ICT suites with industry standard engineering simulation software packages, including Matlab, MultiSim, Autocad Inventor.

Progression to university courses vary by institution and you should check the entry requirements for any course you plan to take after this qualification.

The fee for this course is £3,500.
