This course is an introduction to cookery and will give you a a wide range of foundation food preparation and cooking skills to help you step into a job or progress onto our Level 2 in Cookerly course.
You'll train alongside our professional chefs as part of the team in our student-run restaurant Enfields Kitchen. You'll also get the chance to work with some of our external partners organising and hosting events or working as part of their teams.
This course covers the following modules:
- Maintaining food safety when preparing and cooking and serving food.
- Prepare and cook basic dough products.
- Prepare vegetables.
- Cook vegetables.
- Work as part of a hospitality team.
- Prepare meat products.
- Cook meat products.
- Maintain customer care.
Your teaching team are all highly skilled and experienced staff. They adapt their teaching styles to suit different abilities and ensure they keep their skills up to date to adapt to modern techniques and changes in the industry.
This course is free to those aged under 19 years old.
Most people aged 19
years and over can qualify for free or reduced price course fees and there are
grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to
college, depending on your circumstances.
If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 years over, you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the fee upfront in full and qualify for a 10% discount.
