Our next courses will be held in

Wallsend

Course starts on Monday 29th January and will be held at Wallsend Memorial Hall, 10 Frank Street, Wallsend, NE28 6RN. You will need to attend an information session from 10am on Tuesday 23rd January.  

Newcastle

Course starts on Monday 15th January and will be held at Newcastle United Foundation, NUCASTLE, Diana Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 6BQ. You will need to attend an information session from 10am on Thursday 4th January.  

Course content

  • Industry relevant skills
  • Engineering qualifications - NVQ Level 2 in Rail Engineering (Track Maintenance & Repair) and Level 2 Certificate in Rail Engineering (Underpinning Knowledge)
  • Track induction
  • Personal Track Safety Card (PTS)
  • OLEC 1 - Overhead Lines Electrification Current
  • Manual Handling training 
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Rail Competencies including Rail Saw, Cobra TT, Impact Wrench and Iron Man

Duration
Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm for 8 weeks

After the course
Learners will be sponsored by a rail company and receive a paid work trial.

Past students have gone onto work with some great companies including McGinley, ISS, Coyles, Vital Rail, and GBR Solutions.

Who's it for?
Anyone who is aged 19 or over and is currently unemployed or on a low wage. No prior qualifications or work experience needed.
