Two of our former students are celebrating after scooping a prestigious television award.

Fraser Kinnon and Elice Riley who studied TV and Film at the college won the best Student Entertainment and Comedy Drama award at the Royal Television Society Regional Awards.

The winning film, ‘Cowboys and Contemplation’ was created by the pair as part of a college project to create a comedy sketch.

Both Fraser and Elice are now studying TV and Film at Leeds Beckett University.

With 38 other submissions in their category, Fraser was delighted to scoop the top award:

“It’s absolutely amazing to have won this award, I still can’t quite believe it. Both me and Elice loved working on the comedy sketch project and I think our enthusiasm for it came across in the final film.

“We both had an amazing experience at college and the course gave us the chance to be creative, work on employer projects and build our knowledge and skills to have a career in the TV and film industry. We would like to thank our teacher John Simmons and the rest of the media staff, who allowed us to explore our creativity and we wouldn’t have won this award without them believing in us.”

John Simmons, Curriculum Leader at the college said “Huge congratulations to Fraser and Elice, we’re all very proud of them.

“They are both very creative and talented and this award is a testament to all the hard work they put in during their time at college. I’m confident that they’ll both go on to have successful careers in the industry.”

Former TV & Film students Max Graham and Danny Baker were also shortlisted for two awards at the ceremony in the Best Commercial and Best Cinematography categories.
